The Red Lion & Ealing Studios
Directly across the street from the world-famous Ealing Studios, The Red Lion has long been part of the fabric of British filmmaking. For generations, our pub has been a natural extension of the studio itself — a place where actors, directors, producers, writers and crew have gathered between takes, after wrap, or simply to talk shop over a pint.
So closely linked was the pub to studio life that it earned an affectionate nickname: “Stage 6.” At a time when Ealing Studios had only five stages, the name became a discreet code — a knowing wink among staff signalling a quiet escape for a drink. A place where ideas were shared, friendships formed, and stories flowed as freely as the beer.
That creative legacy continues today.
Ealing Studios has recently received planning permission from Ealing Council for a significant expansion, including a brand-new 14,000 square foot sound stage, 10,000 square feet of new workshops, and 35,000 square feet of additional office space. It marks an exciting new chapter for one of the world’s most historic film studios — and for the neighbourhood around it.
At The Red Lion, we’re proud to remain part of that story. Whether you’re a filmmaker wrapping a shoot, a local stopping by for a quiet drink, or a visitor soaking up a little cinema history, you’re always welcome here.
Whatever stage you’re at — Stage 6 is always open. 🍺🎬
About The Red Lion
Sitting directly opposite the world-famous Ealing Studios, The Red Lion has been part of the area’s creative heartbeat for generations. Long before wrap parties and premieres, this was the place where actors, directors, producers and crew would gather — between takes, after filming, or whenever inspiration (or thirst) struck.
The connection ran so deep that the pub earned its own nickname: “Stage 6.” At a time when Ealing Studios had only five stages, it became a discreet bit of studio shorthand — a knowing nod to slipping out for a well-earned pint. Stories were swapped, ideas were born, and friendships were forged at the bar.
Today, that legacy continues. With Ealing Studios embarking on an exciting expansion — adding new stages, workshops and offices — a new generation of creatives is arriving in the neighbourhood. At The Red Lion, we’re proud to welcome them all, just as we always have.
Whether you’re part of the film industry, a local regular, or simply visiting a piece of British cinema history, The Red Lion remains what it’s always been:
a great pub, full of character, stories, and warm hospitality.
Whatever stage you’re at — you’re always welcome at Stage 6. 🍺🎬

The Kitchen
Helder – Kitchen Manager
As Kitchen Manager of The Andover Arms and The Red Lion, Helder is the creative force behind the menu. Previously Head Chef at The White Horse, Parsons Green, he obtained his National Vocational Qualification while working at Michelin-starred The River Café. His cooking earned 2 AA Rosettes during his time at The Anchor in Walberswick, Suffolk.
When Helder isn’t in the kitchen — or when you spot him front of house or enjoying a well-earned day off — the pass is in very capable hands.
Iryna – Chef
Originally from Ukraine, Iryna is an integral part of our kitchen team, bringing skill, focus and consistency to the food we serve. She leads the kitchen when Helder is off the stove, ensuring the same care and quality on every plate.
Jonas – Kitchen Porter
From Bolivia, Jonas is a vital part of the engine room of the kitchen, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Veronica – Kitchen Porter
Originally from Ecuador, Veronica supports the kitchen twice a week, helping maintain the high standards we rely on every service.
The Front of House
Omar
Born and raised in London with Moroccan heritage, Omar brings warmth, personality and an instinctive sense of hospitality to the pub floor — always ready with a recommendation or a friendly chat.
Chell
Originally from Portugal, Chell moved to London five years ago to pursue her acting career. She is currently studying at drama school in Ealing, just across from the studios — making her very much part of the area’s creative tradition.
Erk
From Turkey, Erk arrived in London a year ago, also to pursue acting. Another Ealing drama school student, he brings energy, curiosity and a natural connection to the pub’s film-linked history.
Amy
British and a valued member of our casual team, Amy is usually with us once or twice a week. Always welcoming — and always sporting perfectly applied eyeliner — she’s a familiar face who adds warmth and style to the floor whenever she’s in.
Together, we’re proud to be a team as diverse, creative and welcoming as the community around us — and we look forward to welcoming you to Stage 6.
